About Us

Our Mission
To identify the mechanisms of atrial fibrillation (AF), specifically persistent AF and postoperative AF. We have developed custom high density epicardial mapping system to record 512 atrial electrograms on both atria. Data from the mapping system used in our animal studies led to our subsequent patient research into identifying the mechanisms of AF. From patient data and our animal studies, we have identified and characterized those mechanisms. Therefore, based on our findings, we are currently developing non-pharmacologic approaches for the treatment of AF, including surgical targeted ablation therapy for persistent AF, entrainment pacing therapy for postoperative AF, and neuromodulation therapy for the prevention and treatment of postoperative AF.

Our Vision
To provide insights into the mechanisms of AF for translational research to develop new treatment strategies through a “bench-to-bedside and back” approach.
