L. David Baldwin (CIT ’49)

A foundation in engineering inspired L. David Baldwin’s decades of quiet philanthropy. The 1949 graduate of Case Institute of Technology began writing computer code after selling Frequency Sources, which produced devices related to the microwave industry. He was renowned for his creation of components that eased the display of content on webpages.

In 2007, through one of his few public gifts to Case Western Reserve University, Baldwin made a $1.6 million commitment to support research involving the use of adult stem cells to treat illness and repair damage to the body.
