Regenia A. Perry broke barriers in 1967 as the first Black woman to receive a PhD in art history and in 1975 as the first Black guest curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Perry is the author of "Free Within Ourselves: African-American Artists in the Collection of the National Museum of American Art, and Selections of Nineteenth Century Afro-American Art."
