In his 10 years as president of Western Reserve University, Robert E. Vinson (presidency years: 1923–1933) worked to strengthen ties with organizations in the University Circle neighborhood and, in 1925, headed the creation of Cleveland College, which provided non-credit education for adults and evening courses for working professionals.
