Robert W. Morse

The last president of Case Institute of Technology and the first of Case Western Reserve University, Robert W. Morse (presidency years: 1966–1970) led the institution as it set out to find its identity and as its students took to the streets to protest the Vietnam War. Morse sought to connect with the era’s student antiwar activists and was the first of Ohio’s university presidents to condemn the May 4, 1970, shooting of four students on Kent State University’s campus.
