An urban affairs and public policy icon, Sarah Short Austin held executive roles at McDonnell Douglas and General Dynamics and was the founding director of the Greater Cleveland Roundtable, which later became the Greater Cleveland Partnership. She also served as executive vice president of the National Urban Coalition.
A Distinguished Alumni Award recipient, she served on the university’s board of trustees for 33 years and is a trustee emerita.
