About the Program
This free, 14-day challenge is exclusive to CWRU and designed to cultivate a vibrant community of scholarship by supporting faculty members and postdocs across all disciplines. Whether your goal is to increase publication output, reduce writing friction, or connect with fellow Spartan researchers across the university, the challenge delivers the structure needed to turn writing into a sustainable daily routine.
"Writing" includes any stage of the scholarly process:
- Journal articles, manuscripts, and book chapters
- Grant proposals and funding statements
- Conference papers and presentation drafts
- Theses, dissertations, and project outlines
- Early-stage brainstorming, literature note-taking, and structural editing
How It Works
The challenge is hosted online through NCFDD’s WriteNow platform:
- Daily Commitment: Dedicate at least 30 minutes every weekday (Monday–Friday) to your selected project.
- Log & Track: Sign in to the WriteNow portal, start your session timer, complete your writing, and log your progress.
- Peer Support: Spend 5 minutes encouraging fellow CWRU participants by commenting on their daily updates.
According to NCFDD data, the average participant logs over 350 minutes of focused academic work over the two-week sprint, with 98% reporting substantial progress on their scholarly goals. Join your CWRU colleagues this semester to build lasting writing momentum.
This program is offered in partnership with:
