On Oct. 30, the federal judge overseeing Cleveland police reform under a consent decree appointed CWRU School of Law Associate Professor Ayesha Bell Hardaway as new interim monitor to handle day-to-day management of the process.
“I’ve been engaged with project since its inception in 2015, and the city has made meaningful strides over that time,” Bell Hardaway told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “I look forward to continue working on the project and toward additional progress.”
Bell Hardaway, a former assistant Cuyahoga County prosecutor, had been deputy monitor since 2019. She is an Associate Professor of Law, Director of the Law School’s Social Justice Law Center and Director of the Law School’s Criminal Law Clinic.
