On April 16, the Compliance, Risk Management & Financial Integrity Institute hosted the Second Annual Compliance and Risk Management Graduate Research Roundtable. The purpose of the event was to allow students in the Master of Compliance and Risk Management to present the research from their theses in a collegial environment in which they answered questions and received feedback.
Students at the event presented on a wide range of compliance topics including:
- Novel ways for healthcare providers to comply with HIPAA's new information blocking rules;
- Lessons learned from AI implementation in Europe;
- How effective compliance can reduce race-based loan disparities in banks and credit unions;
- Environmental enforcement reform in the energy sector;
- Training physicians on abortion provider shield laws;
- Consolidating compliance requirements among federal offices that oversee clinical research;
- Why pharmacy discount programs violate the Anti-kickback statute;
- Complying with new FDA regulations of laboratory developed tests; and
- The impact of oil crises on public investment funds.
The event was held at Tinkham Veale University Center.
Regarding the event, Eric Chaffee—Director of The Compliance, Risk Management and Financial Integrity Institute--said, “The research roundtable has quickly become one of my favorite events of the year.” Chaffee continued, “As advisor for all the theses within the Compliance and Risk Management Program, it is wonderful to witness students share their expertise and thoughtfulness. It is just one of the indications that participation in the program is a transformative experience.”
