In October, professor Victor Flatt’s Environmental Law class was joined by Jay Pendergrass, the former Vice President and Current Senior Advisor to the Environmental Law Institute (ELI) in Washington, D.C. During his over 3 decades at the ELI, Pendergrass has helped tackle numerous environmental issues. As Senior Vice President he oversaw all programmatic activities of the institute, including legal and policy research and analyses of pressing environmental and natural resource issues in the U.S. and globally; educational programs; and publications. Previously, Pendergrass held positions as Vice President for Programs and Publications, Director of Judicial Education, Director of the State Center, Director and Co-Director of International Programs and Senior Attorney.
In this class, Pendergrass presented on what the ELI has worked on under the Clean Water Act, with a particular focus on the ELI’s wetlands work. Pendergrass is a 1979 graduate of the Case Western University School of Law and on the Board of Visitors.
