This fall, 156 exceptional individuals are joining the law school, bringing a rich tapestry of backgrounds and experiences. With 55% coming from out of state and 6% from international locations, this class represents 28 U.S. states, territories and five foreign countries. The group is notably diverse, with 52% identifying as women, 25% from underrepresented minority groups and an average age of 24. Before law school, many took time off—some as long as 23 years—pursuing various careers and passions.
Professionally, the class boasts a wide array of experiences. From public service roles and teaching to careers in the corporate and healthcare sectors, many of our newest students have already made significant contributions in fields such as law enforcement, military service and journalism. A few have already practiced law internationally, bringing a global perspective to the classroom.
Beyond their professional achievements, these students are defined by unique hobbies and interests. Some are passionate about activities like baking, hiking and pageantry, while others are involved in more specialized pursuits such as aquascaping, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and mariachi singing. The class even includes enthusiasts of figure skating, woodworking, knitting and tabletop role-playing games, reflecting a wide range of talents and creative outlets.
“We are thrilled to welcome the Class of 2027 to campus,” remarked Dean Paul Rose. “This class has a demonstrated record of success and we are excited to see what they can achieve, both in their studies and beyond.”
In addition to the JD students, the school is welcoming international students in the LLM and SJD programs as well as the inaugural class of part-time online JD students. This diverse and accomplished group is poised to make a lasting impact on the legal community and the world beyond.
