Dr. Basch, a native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, received his degree of Licenciado en Ciencias Biológicas from the School of Sciences at the University of Buenos Aires.

He earned his doctorate in 2004 working on Early Neural Crest Specification, Induction and Competence in Dr. Marianne Bronner’s lab at the California Institute of Technology. He started his postdoctoral training in the laboratories of Dr. Neil Segil and Dr. Andrew Groves at House Ear Institute in Los Angeles, and later become an instructor in Dr. Groves’ lab at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Basch joined the Department of Otolaryngology at CWRU School of Medicine in May 2015.
