Purpose
University Hospitals and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, through the CWRU CME program, will offer learning opportunities for health professionals to help them provide the highest value and quality of care to their patients. These learning opportunities will be designed to help health professionals increase knowledge, competence and performance, with the intended result of improving patient care and the overall health of the community.
Content Areas
The content of CWRU CME activities reflect one or more of the ACGME/ABMS/IOM/IPE core competencies and the potential roles that a health professional might play in patient care, research, teaching and administration. Content will also include a focus on quality, safety, teamwork, high reliability and value.
Target Audience
All health professionals affiliated with Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, including its teaching hospitals, multi-affiliate institutional partners and systems and alumni, are the CME Program's primary audience. Health professionals who practice in Cleveland and the surrounding communities comprise our secondary audience. Health professionals who practice in Ohio and the Midwest comprise our tertiary audience. Health professionals who practice in other states and countries are the final component of our target audience.
Educational Activities and Services Provided
Activities offered by the CWRU CME program include regularly scheduled series (RSS), live conferences, enduring materials and web-based activities.
Expected Results
Case Western Reserve University is committed to a CME Program with the following expected results: 1) At least 85% of learners will indicate that learning objectives were substantially or completely met; 2) At least 80% of learners will indicate they will change a current patient management strategy or adopt a new patient management strategy; 3) 10% of all activities will be inter-professional continuing education; 4) 10% of all activities will measure performance changes of learners and demonstrate performance improvement; 5) 100 % of University Hospitals RSS Activities will incorporate education on top quality, safety and value issues.
