Julia Blanchette, PhD, is a Nurse Scientist of the Division of Endocrinology and a Diabetes Care and Education Specialist at the Center for Diabetes and Obesity at University Hospitals. She holds a position at the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing in 2014 and her PhD in Nursing Science in 2019, earning both at Case Western Reserve University.
Dr. Blanchette was the inaugural Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES) and the Certification Board for Diabetes Care and Education (CBDCE) Post-doctoral Fellow in Integrated Diabetes Management and trained at the University of Utah College of Nursing. She received the national Rising Diabetes Star Award from ADCES in 2019.

Research Interests
Dr. Blanchette's research focuses on optimizing health equity in diabetes education and care, diabetes self-management barriers (such as financial stress and health insurance), diabetes technology, community -based participatory actin research and qualitative analysis methods, and the transition from pediatric to adult diabetes care.
