Dr. Berje Shammassian was one of five recipients of the CWRU School of Medicine Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Awards given to residents who demonstrate a commitment to teaching and the compassionate treatment of patients, families, students and colleagues. The awardees are nominated by third year medical students who they have mentored on the clinical service. Dr. Shammassian was nominated by Sarah Gael and was presented with the award. This award is usually given to senior residents, but this is the first time in the history of the medical school that it was given to an intern.
