3 things to do in Cleveland in October

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT | October 1, 2025
STORY BY: KATIE LAUX

No matter what you’re into, there’s no shortage of ways to stay entertained in Cleveland. We’ve got sports—including a historic run to the playoffs from the Guardians—music and fall fun in store this month in The Land.

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community are encouraged to get off campus to engage with our community and we’ve got three ideas to get you started.

Looking for more to do? Check out the Destination Cleveland website.

Hispanic Heritage Month Concert

Oct. 13

Close out Hispanic Heritage Month with the Cleveland Orchestra Monday, Oct. 13, for a free evening of Latin music.

The evening will open at 7 p.m. with Cleveland Orchestra artists and dancer Alice Blumenfeld for a selection of Latin chamber music. Then, local favorite Sammy DeLeon y su Orquesta will fill the stage with Latin jazz.

A pre-concert dancing and music from DJ IamYulissa will be held in the grand foyer at Severance Music Center.

Reserve your tickets.

Circle Cinema – Slasher Night featuring Scream (1996)

Oct. 17

Get in the spooky spirit during University Circle Inc.’s Slasher Movie Night, featuring the original Scream film (1996), Friday, Oct. 17.

Geared specifically toward college students at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland Institute of Art and Cleveland Institute of Music, this free screening will be held at Wade Oval on the Kulas Stage with a large outdoor screen.

Gather your friends—and some blankets, chairs and pillows—and find a comfy spot at Wade Oval for this free screening on the Kulas Stage. Pre-show trailers and trivia at 7 p.m., with the movie beginning at 8 p.m. On-site concessions will be available.

If scary movies aren’t your vibe, consider checking out the tamer YAY! Fall Fun Festival the next day (Oct. 18) from 1 to 6 p.m. at Wade Oval.

Cleveland Monsters Opening Night

Oct. 17

See one of Cleveland’s professional sports teams in action as the Cleveland Monsters open their season against Lehigh Valley Phantoms Friday, Oct. 17. The Monsters are the NHL Columbus Blue Jackets’ minor league affiliate.
