5 questions with Weatherhead’s Milana Sacco, Class of 2026

Campus + Community | May 12, 2026 | Story by: Meg Herrel

This week, Case Western Reserve University celebrates the graduating Class of 2026 at commencement ceremonies May 15-17. More than just a ceremony, these celebrations are a testament to the hard work, dedication and perseverance of the graduates as they reach this milestone and begin their careers or continue their education. Festivities begin on Wednesday, May 14, with clap out and convocation, followed by the convocation barbecue on Van Horn Field.

As members of the Class of 2026 look ahead to the next chapter, we caught up with Milana Sacco, an MBA student at Weatherhead School of Management, about her experience at CWRU and her journey thus far.

Answers have been lightly edited for length.

1. What initially drew you to CWRU?

I was initially drawn to CWRU for my undergraduate studies because of the strong emphasis the university places on being a well-rounded student. I was encouraged to explore different courses, get involved in a variety of activities and challenge myself beyond just academics, which helped me grow both personally and professionally. When it came time to choose a graduate program, CWRU already felt like home. I have a strong sense of pride in being both a WSOM and CWRU student, and I knew I wanted to return to a community that had already shaped so much of my journey.

2. What course or campus experience most shaped your education?

The campus experiences that have most shaped my education have been my roles as the graduate marketing assistant for the Office of Student Activities & Leadership (SA&L) and as VP of marketing for Weatherhead Women in Business (WWIB). Since I want to pursue a career in marketing, having the opportunity to apply what I learn in the classroom to real-world projects has been incredibly valuable.

Through SA&L, I’ve been able to work on some of CWRU’s most beloved traditions, including homecoming and the Hudson Relays, which have given me hands-on experience in event marketing, student engagement and campus branding. I also get the opportunity to interact with Spartie. In WWIB, our executive team had the chance to build the organization from the ground up, which meant creating a brand almost entirely from scratch. That experience taught me so much about strategy, creativity and leadership, and both roles have played a major part in shaping my education and career goals.

3. What is your favorite memory at CWRU?

I have had such a great time here, it's hard to pick just one.  A few highlights are performing with the CWRU Footlighters, singing with the Case Concert Choir, volunteering with CCEL and ultimately making friendship and memories that will last a lifetime

4. What's next for you after graduation?

After graduation, I’m looking forward to continuing my career in marketing, specifically in content creation and social media strategy. I’m currently exploring opportunities where I can combine creativity with brand storytelling and community engagement, which are areas I’m especially passionate about. At the same time, I plan to continue growing my small business, Made by Milana, where I create custom baking, sewing and crochet projects. Expanding my business will allow me to keep building my entrepreneurial skills while doing work I genuinely love.

5. What advice would you give students in your program?

My advice to students in the program would be to get out and explore all that CWRU has to offer. Don’t be afraid to get involved, both within Weatherhead and across campus as a whole. Your experience here is so much more than what you learn in the classroom. Some of the most valuable lessons come from engaging with others, joining organizations, taking on leadership roles and finding ways to make a positive impact in the community. The connections and experiences you build outside of class can shape your journey just as much as your academics.
