Apply for the Freedman Faculty Fellowship through Kelvin Smith Library
The Freedman Fellows Program is now accepting applications from Case Western Reserve University faculty, instructors and researchers in any discipline for the 2026—27 academic year. This program, administered and supported by Kelvin Smith Library, has provided more than $290,000 in targeted funding for the advancement of digital research, teaching and learning at CWRU.
Funded by the Freedman Fellows Endowment established by Samuel B. and Marian K. Freedman, this program also offers support and resources from subject-matter specialists at Kelvin Smith Library to develop innovative technology-enabled instruction.
The Freedman Fellows Program is especially interested in supporting projects that:
- Advance generative artificial intelligence and its related concepts in academic research or teaching;
- Develop or demonstrate the value of open-source tools and open data; and
- Address current social concerns or matters of public importance.
Applications are due by April 13, and a 30-minute consultation with Kelvin Smith Library staff is highly recommended before submission.
