Newsweek: Stacy McGaugh, professor and director of astronomy at the College of Arts and Sciences, called Reflect Orbital’s planned space-mirror satellite “an abomination” and an “existential threat” to observational astronomy. He warned reflected sunlight could worsen light pollution, disrupt astronomical research, and affect nocturnal wildlife, arguing some people may not want their nighttime environment illuminated without consent.
