Red flags in proposals: Did you get a 'shut up ring?'
Newsweek: Eileen Anderson, the Anne Templeton Zimmerman MD Professor in Bioethics, was asked to comment on the term “shut up ring,” which refers to a marriage proposal made for reasons other than genuine commitment—most often to "shut up" a partner about expecting a proposal or delay an inevitable breakup.
