Biophysics’ Walter F. Boron receives the 2025 Christian Bohr Prize

Walter F. Boron, Distinguished University Professor and the David N. and Inez Myers/Antonio Scarpa Professor in the Department of Physiology and Biophysics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, recently was awarded the Scandinavian Physiological Society's 2025 Christian Bohr Prize. The honor was presented at the International Union of Physiological Sciences and Europhysiology conference in Frankfurt/Main, Germany.

Boron is only the third recipient of this lifetime achievement award, which recognizes his groundbreaking contributions to physiology—including advancing the understanding of intracellular pH regulation and the transport of biological gases across cell membranes.
