Business Insider magazine ranks Case Western Reserve University No. 1 for graduate earnings in Ohio
Case Western Reserve University graduates earn a higher median income than those at any other college in Ohio, according to a new analysis by Business Insider magazine.
Business Insider identified the colleges and universities in each state with the highest-paid graduates four years after completing their degrees, based on U.S. Department of Education (DOE) data.
Case Western Reserve ranked number one in Ohio, with graduates earning a median salary of $94,000 just four years after completing their degrees.
“We are committed to providing hands-on, experiential learning opportunities for all undergraduates that prepare them to enter the workforce and for their longer-term careers,” said Case Western Reserve President Eric W. Kaler. “The vast majority of our alumni who find work after graduation report that their positions were degree- or major-related, further emphasizing the value of a Case Western Reserve University education.”
The ranking was based on statistics from the DOE’s College Scorecard, a database that tracks net college costs, student debt, completion rates and earnings outcomes at colleges and universities nationally for about 13 million students receiving Title IV federal aid.
The list, published Monday, featured a range of schools, from smaller specialized programs to large universities, and focused on public or private nonprofit four-year schools.
Business Insider also reported the most popular majors at each of the top-ranked institutions. For Case Western Reserve, the magazine listed: biology, computer science, bioengineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering and psychology—programs that consistently place graduates among the economy’s most competitive and highest-paying sectors.
The story included a caveat: “Like most college ranking methodologies…the earnings data applies only to former federal-aid recipients, and specialized schools may be more likely to top some states because graduates in certain fields tend to earn more.”
