Case School of Engineering aims to expand faculty by more than 10% with new hiring initiative
15 new positions build on CWRU priorities, including Faculty 100 initiative, new Susi Building
Case Western Reserve University's Case School of Engineering has launched a hiring initiative that will grow its faculty by more than 10%—an expansive effort to meet the growing demand of students and continue increasing the research enterprise.
The roles include 11 tenured or tenure-track positions, several of which are endowed, plus four career-track teaching positions. Every department across Case School of Engineering is hiring for these new roles.
These new positions—some of which are part of the university's Faculty 100 Initiative to create 100 net new tenured or tenure-track roles—span the following interdisciplinary research themes:
- AI, Data Analytics and Methodology
- Biomedical Diagnostics and Therapeutics
- Electrochemistry and Energy
- Environment, Ecosystems and Human Systems
- Sustainable Manufacturing and Advanced Materials
- Human Fusions and Robotics
Many of these positions align with the research clusters in the university's brand-new Roger E. Susi Interdisciplinary Research Building, which opened Oct. 21.
"Case School of Engineering is at a remarkable point in its history," said Susan E. Hagness, the Charles H. Phipps Dean of Engineering, who joined the university in July. "This growth reflects not only the high demand for engineers who can develop solutions to transform society, but also, specifically, the power of Case School of Engineering to lead the way."
