Contribute to favorite causes through CWRU’s annual Charity Choice campaign

During this season of gratitude and reflection, university leaders are asking the community to consider contributing to the university’s annual Charity Choice campaign. “Just as we rely on the support and innovation of those on our campus and in the local communities, many of our friends and neighbors need our help as well,” said Provost William A. “Bud” Baeslack III, co-chair of the 2013 Charity Choice campaign. “As a community, we have the opportunity to help in ways that are important and meaningful to each of us individually through the university’s Charity Choice Campaign.” This year’s campaign closes Dec. 13. Members of the campus community can donate through the university’s three primary organizational partners:

• United Way of Greater Cleveland, the leading convener and funder of partnerships focused on solutions for the community's health and human service priorities.
• Greater Cleveland Community Shares, the only Northeast Ohio workplace-giving federation focused on advocacy and social change. For 23 years, its member organizations have worked to meet community needs and support social justice through advocacy, education and empowerment.
• EarthShare Ohio, a federation working to raise donations for local, regional and national nonprofit conservation and environmental organizations.

In addition, donors also can designate any independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit to receive their support through Charity Choice. In other words, any gift Case Western Reserve employees make to churches, synagogues, mosques or other nonprofit organizations can be made through Charity Choice. This year, the university aims to increase the dialogue on campus about philanthropic giving while supporting individuals’ efforts to donate to causes or organizations about which they are passionate. “We cannot stress the importance of giving, no matter the amount,” said co-chair Charles E. Rozek, vice provost and dean of the School of Graduate Studies. “We thank you for understanding the importance of community and how we, together, can make a difference.” Donations can be made now through Dec. 13 online through HCM or by paper form as a one-time payment or multiple payroll deductions.
