CWRU’s Engineers Without Borders presents in the Philippines about 3-D printing

Case Western Reserve University’s Engineers Without Borders deployed a team in the Philippines in August to use 3-D printing as a teaching and inspirational tool for advancing STEM education. Working with a smaller group called Human Design Corp., the group of students was led by Rigoberto Advincula, professor of macromolecular science and engineering. The following students participated:

The students conducted a 3-D printing workshop at Ateneo de Davao University at Davao City, Philippines, and invited college students, high school teachers and students with the Philippine Science High School to a one-day symposium. A visit to the local village of resettled ethnic tribes and Lumads gave students the opportunity to determine community needs. Engineers Without Borders will plan future engagements and a model for using 3-D printing for community outreach on their next trip. In addition, Advincula gave several lectures on the value of innovation to benefit society with new materials and methods.
