The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Case Western Reserve University invites applications from within the university for the position of department chair, ideally beginning July 1.
The department has 37 primary faculty members, an undergraduate enrollment of more than 480 and a graduate enrollment of more than 200 students. The department at Case Western Reserve supports four synergistic undergraduate degree programs (electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, and systems and control engineering), as well as Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in electrical engineering, computer engineering, systems and control engineering, and computing and information sciences.
The Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science spans a spectrum of topics from materials, devices, circuits and processors through control, signal processing and systems analysis to software, computation, computer systems and networking. The faculty have identified the following specific areas of research:
- Micro/nano systems;
- Electronics and instrumentation;
- Robotics and haptics;
- Embedded systems, including VLSI and FPGA;
- Hardware algorithms, hardware security, testing/verification;
- Bioinformatics and systems biology;
- Machine learning and data mining;
- Computer networks and distributed systems
- Secure and reliable software;
- Energy Systems, including wind and power grid management/control;
- Gaming, simulation, optimization; and
- Medical informatics and wireless health.

- Led multi-investigator awards;
- Participated in the creation, development and delivery of novel curricula; and
- Have a record of academic and professional leadership.
