Drone window cleaning scheduled for academic buildings this fall

Members of the Case Western Reserve University community may notice drones operating outside academic buildings over the coming months as exterior window cleaning takes place across campus.

Custodial Services has partnered with contractor American National Skyline, LLC (ANSI) to use drone technology to clean the exterior windows of several campus buildings. During the work, faculty, staff and students may hear brief periods of noise outside classroom and office windows as the drone moves along the building's exterior.

Cleaning of exterior windows will begin with the academic buildings on the Case Quad, and will continue into other areas of campus throughout the fall semester.

The drone is used on taller buildings to safely and efficiently clean exterior windows. The process uses a window-cleaning solution followed by a rinse with deionized water, allowing the windows to dry without streaks or residue.

Thank you for your patience as this work is completed to help maintain campus facilities.
