Duo enrollment for HCM and FIN to be implemented Feb. 5; opt in now

The Information Security Office (ISO) is expanding the use of Duo Security two-factor authentication for Case Western Reserve University users from VPN, where it has already been in use, to the HCM and FIN applications for increased protection and security.

Opting in

Now through Feb. 4, users may opt in to use Duo by registering at the self-service enrolling site at webapps.case.edu/duo/webauth.py. On next Monday, Feb. 5, Single Sign-On log-ins for these systems will officially require Duo Security, and un-enrolled users will be prompted to enroll in Duo when attempting to log in to HCM or FIN.

Two-factor authentication

Two-factor authentication offers an additional security measure to verify your identity in addition to your network ID and password/phrase. Duo Security provides a unique code generated by the Duo Mobile app on your smartphone as the “second factor” (other code-receiving methods are also available).

Individual drop-in times

ISO staff members are available to help you learn about and enroll in Duo. Drop in and get registered in a matter of minutes. The last enrollment session scheduled at this time is Thursday, Feb. 1, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in Crawford Hall, Room 720. Please bring your smartphone, basic mobile phone, landline phone number, tablet or laptop to enroll your preferred device/method of contact. Other options include a personal U2F (FIDO) token or hardware tokens provided to faculty by University Technology ([U]Tech).
