Engineering student receives scholarship from national engineering honor society

Dakin Muhlner, a rising fourth-year studying mechanical and aerospace engineering, recently received a 2026–27 scholarship from Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering honor society. The competitive scholarship recognizes junior members for outstanding academic achievement, leadership, service, and promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.

Muhlner joined the research group led by Janet Gbur, research associate in materials science and engineering, in fall 2025, where he contributed to Materials Data Science for Reliability and Degradation (MDS-Rely) research characterizing aerosol jet-printed circuits. He designed fixtures for variable-angle bend fatigue testing to evaluate the mechanical reliability and conductivity of aerosol jet-printed circuits in functional environments. 

Outside the lab, he is a former president of the CWRU Water Polo Club and an avid runner.
