Engineering’s Mehran Moghadam and M. Hassan Najafi receive best paper award at 2026 International Symposium on Low Power Electronics and Design
Mehran Moghadam, research assistant in the Department of Electrical, Computer and Systems Engineering, and M. Hassan Najafi, PhD, associate professor of engineering, earned the best paper award at the 2026 International Symposium on Low Power Electronics and Design.
The duo received the award for their paper, “MITRA: Reconfigurable Low-Latency and Power-Efficient In-Memory Stochastic Architecture for Transcendental Functions,” which explores a more efficient approach to performing complex mathematical computations in hardware, reducing the time and energy required for these operations.
In their work, they introduce MITRA, a reconfigurable in-memory computing architecture that uses stochastic computing to perform transcendental functions with lower latency and greater power efficiency.
