Engineering's Rishabh Kundu earns Student Poster Pitch Award at Ceramics Expo 2026
Earlier this month, Rishabh Kundu—a second-year PhD student in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, a ThinkEnergy Fellow and a Swanger Fellow—received second prize in the Student Poster Pitch Competition at the Ceramics Expo and Thermal Management Expo North America 2026.
Kundu’s research focuses on the data-driven degradation and lifetime assessment of multilayer ceramic capacitors. By predicting component failure and enabling real-time health monitoring, similar to how smartphones assess battery health, his work aims to reduce operational costs, optimize maintenance and significantly reduce electronic waste.
In recognition of the achievement, Kundu received a $300 Apple gift voucher during the expo. This honor follows his recent research award at PINO 2026.
