Engineering’s Shuo Li to serve as a board member of the National Library of Medicine (NLM)
Shuo Li, PhD, Leonard Case, Jr. Professor of Engineering at Case Western Reserve University, has accepted an invitation, extended on behalf of the National Institutes of Health director, to serve on the board of scientific counselors of the National Library of Medicine (NLM).
This board is the only formally constituted group of external scientists that systematically reviews NLM’s intramural research program. Li will evaluate investigators and tenure actions and advise NLM leadership on:
- Scientific priorities,
- Emerging research areas,
- High-risk and high-impact projects and
- Resource allocation.
The appointment recognizes Li’s leadership in artificial intelligence and medical image computing and will allow him to help shape the scientific direction of a major NIH intramural research program.
His term will begin upon completion of the required federal appointment documents and continue through June 30, 2029.
