The Flora Stone Mather Center for Women will present a program on intersectionality in collaboration with the Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equal Opportunity, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Social Justice Institute.
The program, which is part of the Women of Color Series, will be held Thursday, April 28, from noon to 1 p.m. in Tinkham Veale University Center, Suite 248.
Shemariah J. Arki, partner and consultant at Excellence Management Group, will facilitate the session, which is titled “Debunking Cultural Bias: What Does an Intersectional Movement Look Like?”
As a window into third-wave feminism, the session will explore what scholar Kimberle Crenshaw defines as intersectionality, or the need to examine how various identity markers interact on multiple and often simultaneous levels.
The program is open to individuals of all genders.
