What is Open Access (OA) Week?
OA Week (October 24-30, 2022) is a time to bring together individuals and communities across the globe to participate in OA events, increase awareness of OA, and inspire OA adoption.
What is the theme of this year’s OA Week?
This year’s theme is Open for Climate Justice. The OA Week website describes this year’s theme as an opportunity “...to encourage connection and collaboration among the climate movement and the international open community. Sharing knowledge is a human right, and tackling the climate crisis requires the rapid exchange of knowledge across geographic, economic, and disciplinary boundaries.” We will explore more on this theme in future posts.
How can I participate in OA Week?
Attend an OA Week Event either in-person or virtually. Follow #OAWeek on social media channels. Consider how you might make your own work OA, share or use OA content, and advocate for OA. For faculty, consider supporting the proposed Faculty Open Access Policy.
If you have questions about OA, please feel free to contact the Scholarly Communication & Copyright Librarian, Karen Caputo (karen.caputo@case.edu) or your Research Librarian.
