Law's Matthew Salerno talks about bankruptcy and mortages

Can you buy a house after bankruptcy?
U.S. News & World ReportMatthew Salerno, associate professor at the School of Law, explained that bankruptcy caused by extenuating circumstances may shorten mortgage waiting periods. “Commonly understood examples of that would be some sort of catastrophic event that has occurred. A large amount of medical bills that has arisen in a short period of time, maybe also could be something like death of a spouse,” he said, though lender discretion makes expedited approvals uncommon.
