Mandel School’s Dan Flannery discusses the role of Flock cameras in crime investigations
How many crimes have Flock cameras solved in Cleveland? Police can’t quite say.
cleveland.com: Dan Flannery, the Dr. Semi J. and Ruth Begun Professor and director of the Begun Center for Violence Prevention Research and Education at the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences, said license plate readers are valuable investigative tools, especially for understaffed police, but they don't solve crimes on their own. He said Cleveland should better track how often the technology contributes to investigations and ensure strong guardrails and transparency in its use.
