Medical student Mitali Sharma named recipient of American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists’ Second Prize Oral Abstract Award
Mitali Sharma, a rising fourth-year medical student at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, received the Second Prize Oral Abstract Award at the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists’ 2026 Annual Clinical and Scientific Meeting.
At this meeting, Sharma gave a 10-minute oral presentation on her TriNetX research regarding differences in management of chronic vulvar pain across racial and ethnic groups. In her study, Sharma collaborated with Jessica Hinnes and Soowan Jeong, rising fourth-year medical students, and Feyi Rufai, a rising third-year medical student.
The project was completed under the direction of Rachel Pope, MD, associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology, and Lisa Bird, a member of the Female Sexual Health Research Group.
