Medicine’s Ellen J. Gelles named Division Director of General Internal Medicine at MetroHealth
Ellen J. Gelles, MD (MED ’94), internal medicine specialist and associate professor of medicine at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, was recently named division director of general internal medicine at MetroHealth Main Campus Medical Center.
At the center, Gelles is a practicing primary care internal medicine physician, associate director of clinical informatics for adult primary care and the operational lead for AI Scribes @ Metrohealth.
Notable achievements of Gelles’ professional career include:
- Being appointed as co-director of the Longitudinal Clinical Skills program at the School of Medicine;
- Being named 2021 Internist of the Year, a 2025 master and governor-elect designee by the Ohio chapter of the American College of Physicians;
- Speaking on physician advocacy and leveraging technology to reduce clinician administrative burden and improve the electronic health record for patients; and
- Serving as a member of the specialty board for the American Board of Internal Medicine.
