Health Radar (pg. 6): Max Wiznitzer, professor of pediatric neurology at the School of Medicine, explained that part of the rise in autism cases stems from changes in how the disorder is defined. “Autism is not the same disease today as it was in 1985. The disease is now called autism spectrum disorder, and that has broadened and increased the flexibility for diagnosis,” said Wiznitzer.
