National conference in Orlando bringing school leaders together to share safety tools
NBC Orlando: Stephen Sroka, adjunct professor at the School of Medicine, proposed some ways school districts can better protect students and staff from deadly mass shootings across the country. “Mental health detectors rather than metal detectors,” Sroka said. “Building trusted relationships, working with the relationship, working with mental health is so important. I'm into preventive intervention—intervention is important, but let's prevent this out here.”
