Resnick Professor of Forensic Psychiatry at the School of Medicine and adjunct professor at the School of Law, said women are often drawn to true crime because it provides a “rehearsal of danger in a safe environment,” allowing them to examine warning signs and risks that could be useful in real life. She added that stories featuring female victims resonate because of their relatability, emotional connection and compassion.
