National Preparedness Month: Build a kit
A well‑prepared kit ensures you have essential supplies when power, water or access to stores is disrupted, and storing items in airtight bags and portable containers keeps everything protected and easy to carry.
In observance of National Preparedness Month, the Office of Emergency Management encourages members of the Case Western Reserve University community to build an emergency kit.
Potential household and car items can include:
- Water,
- Non-perishable food,
- A flashlight,
- First aid supplies,
- Medications,
- Sanitation items,
- Warm blankets, and
- Other essentials that support daily needs.
It is also important to prepare a car kit with jumper cables, flares, a blanket, a flashlight, bottled water and other items that help you stay safe while traveling. Building these kits now strengthens your ability to respond confidently and supports the broader goal of creating resilient communities across the country.
