New at Kelvin Smith Library this fall: 3 things to know

This past summer, Kelvin Smith Library staff worked hard to continue its mission of aiding Case Western Reserve University in its studies, teaching and research as best as possible.

Now that fall semester is back in full swing, there are many resources and programs at the library that can help members of the CWRU community with studying, researching or any other projects.

To stay on track throughout the academic year, here are three new things to know:

1. The CWRU Libraries app is live and available to download.

Access your library account, search resources, view hours and events, ask for help and more right from a smartphone. Download OhioLINK Libraries on the Apple and Google Play stores, choose Case Western Reserve University and connect your network ID to get started.

2. Ring lights and thermal cameras are now available to borrow.

These two new additions to the library’s equipment borrowing program are ready to help capture high-quality content for any project. They join an existing collection of loanable technology, including cameras, microphones, VR headsets, Blu-Ray players and more. Browse the tech table on the first floor or check out the equipment borrowing page for a full list of available tech.

3. The library created its first-ever Instagram Reels series, KSL: Explained.

Perfect for new Spartans, this series covers everything—from the general layout of the building to booking study rooms and checking out materials. Follow @KelvinSmithLibrary on Instagram and tune in for episodes every other Thursday. To access previously released episodes, check out the KSL: Explained highlight.

4. Kelvin Smith Library is open 24/5 throughout the semester (24/7 during finals).

Sunday through Thursday, the first and lower levels are open overnight for those with a CWRU ID. During fall and spring finals, the library extends its hours to 24/7 for extra study space and support during the busy time.

For questions, contact Kelvin Smith Library at asksl@case.edu at any time. Real librarians monitor these questions 24/7 and will respond very soon.
