Effective May 18, to improve security and reduce the unintentional over-sharing of university data, University Technology ([U]Tech) will implement a change to public sharing links in Box. This update specifically addresses shared links set to "People with the link," which are publicly accessible to anyone with the link and do not require a sign-in.
With this change, these public links will have a default expiration period of 30 days. When the link expires, the content is unshared, but not deleted. Content owners will be notified via email seven days before a link expires. Users can manually set a different expiration period if necessary.
This change does not affect sharing links set to "People in your company" or "Invited people only," which will not expire automatically.
