Nursing’s Grant Pignatiello receives a five-year, $3.89M research grant to study emotional support for family decision-makers
Grant Pignatiello, PhD, the Donna L. Algase Endowed Scholar Assistant Professor at Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing, was recently awarded a five-year, $3.89 million research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Nursing Research.
Pignatiello’s study will examine the benefits of REFRAME—an emotion regulation intervention to improve psychological outcomes in surrogate decision-makers for survivors of invasive mechanical ventilation, a self-directed, computer tablet-based emotion regulation intervention—in a randomized controlled trial of 376 family members making decisions for critically ill loved ones.
