Is butter actually healthier than margarine? Dietitians break down the true nutritional trade-offs
Men's Journal: Lindsay Malone, registered dietitian and instructor in the Department of Nutrition at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, explained how she prefers grass-fed organic butter or solidifying pure olive oil in the fridge over margarine. “Both can be good choices. Most margarines have additives like thickeners, emulsifiers, and coloring agents, or they may advertise containing a healthy oil, but also have filler oils added to them. I like to stick with whole, minimally processed foods when possible, and butter is no exception.”
