Pediatrics' David J. Birnkrant and Jane B. Black co-author book on cardiorespiratory care and drug development

Earlier this year, David J. Birnkrant, MD, professor emeritus of pediatrics, and Jane B. Black, MD, clinical assistant professor of pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, co-authored and published their book, Cardiorespiratory Aspects of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy: New Perspectives and Controversies

Available via Elsevier, Amazon and other sellers, this book is designed to address key challenges in the field by providing a cardiorespiratory perspective on clinical care, drug development and the regulatory approval of new drugs. It also discusses current achievements and limitations of care and addresses clinical challenges by offering a detailed, critical examination of the drug development process and identifying potential flaws in current regulatory processes.

Novel recommendations for improving study methodologies and regulatory decisions are discussed, with the goal of enabling more effective drugs to reach individuals with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
