Professor says academia looks for representative outcomes in elections

Spectrum NewsJustin Buchler, associate professor of political science, discussed voting trends and representation. “What we want is an election where the candidate that is most representative of the district's preferences wins,” said Buchler. “If you have an election in a district that is evenly divided, what that means is, no matter what happens, you're going to have half a district that is unhappy with the outcome and that means there is really no way to get a representative outcome.”
