The New York TimesRalph Harvey, professor of geology at the College of Arts and Sciences, discussed a crater—once a massive lake, now dried up— as a perfect spot for a Mars landing. Harvey’s work was among the first to push for the assignment of an official name when he proposed a crater as a potential landing site for the earlier Curiosity rover.
