‘Jeopardy!’ producer Richards named host; role for Bialik
The Associated Press: Deepak Sarma, a professor in the Department of Religious Studies and Netflix consultant, thought Sony Pictures, which produces the daily syndicated game show “Jeopardy!” missed an opportunity by choosing its executive producer, Mike Richards, as successor to beloved host Alex Trebek. (Actor Mayim Bialik will emcee for “Jeopardy!” prime-time and a spinoff series.) A “fantastic opportunity for radical change has been lost,” Sarma said. Sony’s decision confirms suspicions that “penetrating some privileged worlds is impossible.”
